Bridie Shines at Wollongong Markets!

Hi Everyone

Let me introduce you to Bridie...my favourite customer last Friday at the Wollongong Produce and Creative Traders Market! She loved her Punk Clown tartan skirt so much she couldn't wait to wear it and put it on soon after she bought it. Doesn't she look adorable. What a styler. Thank you Bridie! 'Twas looooveeeelyyyyy to meet you.

As you can see it was a stunning day. There were delightful people, perfect spring weather, a joyful atmosphere and it is fantastically organised.

My two warm and wonderful stall neighbours in photos below, with all their gorgeous handmade creations, were Emma-Lee from Milk Thieves (http://www.milk-thieves.blogspot.com/) and Sal from Singlet and Bloomers (www.madeit.com/chbeandviscount). Sal is there every Friday just outside Redback Records and Emma-Lee is there more often than not. Emma-Lee also has the Milk Thieves Store located in Central Wollongong that is open Tuesday to Saturday.

By the way, in my photo I am wearing one of the recycled, frilled neck scarves I mentioned in the last blog.

Look forward to heading back to Wollongong Markets in the not too distant future.

Will keep you posted.

Lee xx

Stall at Wollongong Markets Friday and Eartha Report

Hi Everyone

This Friday 17th September I will be selling the Rainbow Produce Bags and Punk Clown Customised Recycled Streetwear at the Wollongong Produce and Creative Traders Market in the Crown Street Mall, Wollongong. This is the local market and I am hoping for a successful day (eco-friendly produce bags anyone?) so that I can be there regularly and become part of the scene.

Have a number of new Punk Clown items and they have been posted here on the blog. Will also have some new pleated scarves made from recycled fabrics...very colourful and theatrical. Soon to be posted.

If you are in the area please drop by and say hello. Would love to see you!

Also wanted to report that Eartha enjoyed her first outing at the Glitter in the Darkness fundraiser earlier this month. The delightful and creative Maria Kennedy put an Eartha poster together of her photos from the night and my wonderful bro and sister in-law, Keith and Pauline Rickwood, also came and captured some moments from the evening. A big thanks! It was an exciting night of creative mayhem and Eartha was there amidst the throng busking, running the Hippopotamus Hoops with Libby and having a wild time in her customised recycled costume.

Great outcome with $2,000 raised for Heidi Hillier's "Lost and Found - the Sugar Candy Show" (http://thesydneyfringe.com.au/shows/lost-and-found-sugar-candy-show) and Anne Louise Rentall's "The Governess in Lessons Learnt" (http://thesydneyfringe.com.au/news/1296/governess-lessons-learnt-check-her-out-). They are two of the best shows on at the Sydney Fringe - last nights so get there if you can!

Great plans for the coming weeks.

Will keep you posted.

Until then, be well and happy!

Glebe Market Report and More...

Hi Everyone

Hope your last weekend was as rewarding as mine!

Inner city Sydney is definitely the better market for the Punk Clown range of kids' clothing. Had a gorgeous spring like day at Glebe. Lots of people enjoying the clothes, again with smiles on their faces when looking which makes it all worthwhile. And a big thank you goes out to the gorgeous Anna Irvine for her help on the day.

The most common comment of the day was "Your clothes make me want to have a baby"...by lots of delightful young women in the 20s and one punk guy with khol smeared eyes!

Prior to Glebe, an article on the Punk Clown range was featured over at Nimmity Zappert 's fantastic eco blog "How do we know what's good". I met Nimmity at the Exchange for Change eco fashion event that was held at Carriage Works at the end of July (http:///exchangeforchange.my3things.org/about).

Nimmity's blog is about her journey to understand how we can make good buying decisions and how we "understand what is good for the people that make the things we buy, sell the things we buy, good for us and good for our natural environment?" Here is the link if you want to take a look at the article and also to find out more about Nimmity's inspirational journey - http://www.nimmity.com/2010/08/punk-clown-kids-clothes-at-glebe.html.

The next market stall I will be having up in Sydney's inner city will be on October 30 at Under the Blue Moon Festival Market Day in Enmore. Go to www.underthebluemoon.org.au to find out more about this event for the "community of the dark alternative". Looks like I'll be getting a stall in a funeral parlour! Should be an eventful day and am really looking forward to the response to the Punk Clown range. Planning to do a stall at Wollongong farmers' market this month and will let you know details when that firms up. This Saturday's Style Exchange event will not be going ahead unfortunately, so no selling this weekend.

The Glitter in the Darkness Cabaret will be on though on Saturday night. Details in the flyer that I am including again. Hope to see some of you there - it's going to be amazing! Plan to post some photos of the night and Eartha's debut on the blog sometime soon.

Hope this finds you all well and happy!

Until next time
Lee
